About Laura

The beginning of my career started when I was 15 years old. I was in high school and I wanted to be a photographer…. so I joined the yearbook staff. My high school had limited resources and the photography department didn’t have enough cameras to go around. My father solved that problem for me. He bought me my first camera, a completely manual Nikon FM2n and I began learning photography under his care. He took me up to the local college where we spent hours in the darkroom. He gave me a craft that forever changed my life. Although computers have replaced darkrooms and CF cards have replaced film, there are the fundamental basics that still hold true. Taking great photos is more than just clicking a button. It’s telling a story without using words. It’s about preserving memories. It’s about family. Of course technique and style are part of making great photos too… Here’s my photography education history ~

I hold a degree in photography from The University of Texas Arlington. I have worked as a photojournalist, photo editor, a retoucher, and as an electronic imaging specialist.In college I earned 16 Texas Intercollegiate Press Associations Awards, 4 National Columbia Scholastic Press Association Awards, and 3 Rocky Mountain Press Association Awards. I’ve worked for major Texas newspapers and freelanced for the Associated Press. I am a member of Professional Photographers of America, Wedding & Portrait Photographers International and Texas Professional Photographers of America.

In 1997, I met my husband, an Art Director. We both had a love and interest in the arts and design. My unique skill sets allow me to offer quality work in both the mediums of photography and graphic design. We pride ourselves on the quality of our custom work!  We have a handsome almost 9 year old son and live in San Marcos.
