Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to make an appointment?
Yes, we work by appointment only. We are available on Saturdays as well. Weekend appointments fill up very quickly so you may want to plan accordingly. We encourage you to book a free pre session consultation as well.

When is my session fee due?
Your session fee is due at the time you book your appointment. We are happy to take a Credit Card payment over the phone. If you need to reschedule, please do so 72 hours before your appointment. Session fee’s are non refundable.  Missed or no show appointments will accrue at $50 fee.  The session fee does not cover the cost of prints.

How much will my portraits cost me?
We have minimum purchase investment requirement of $350 for all sessions. Your session fee is not part of this investment. We offer a la carte pricing so you order exactly what you’d like.  For or full pricing information please call for a complimentary no obligation consultation.

Why are your prices not on your website?
Because we offer so many choices of products and items it’s difficult to convey what all the options and choices are. We’ve found it’s better to meet with potential clients in person if they’re not familar with our work and products… And we like to meet you too! A consult allows us to really understand what look and feel you’d like your portraits to have. We will discuss clothing, ideas and goals for the session, and anything else you’d like to talk about. We’ll show you lots of examples of our work too. We love our clients to be part of the creative process. The consult is complimentary and requires no obligation.

Are you expensive?
Not if you compare us to other custom photographers who offer our same quality of work and service. We’re very competitively priced. Custom photography is an investment in your family history, your legacy and is indeed priceless. We will always work with you to make it possible for you to purchase what you want to order. Once you’ve experienced custom photography you’ll never want to visit a chainstore again.

Do you offer gift certificates or registry options.
Yes! Gift certificates are available for purchase.  We also well set up a gift registry for you if you’re having a baby shower or a wedding and would like your guests to give you the gift of fine custom portraiture.

I won a gift certificate at an auction can I use it towards a special offer or sale?
We do lots of charity work throughout our community. If you won a gift certificate that was donated by The Smile House it cannot be combined with any other offers or sales including special events like Santa’s workshop or Pumpkin patch.

I was given a gift certificate can I exchange it for cash value.
Gift Certificates cannot be exchanged for cash.  All sales are final.  It can be used towards your session fee, prints or products.

What if my kids are being bad?
We believe having your child or family’s portrait made should be an enjoyable experience. We also realize that little ones can be unpredictable which is why if your child should have a bad day we’ll be happy to reschedule! Your session fee will apply to your next session! We don’t ever want you to be afraid to have your child or family’s portrait made! Our sessions are always relaxed and easy going! We guarantee that you will be absolutely thrilled with your images or we’ll offer you a reshoot or your sitting fee will be returned.

Do you sell the digital files?
Digital files are available for purchase either as an individual file or by collection.

How long does a session take?
A session can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Your session length will depend on what, where and whom we’re photographing.

How many photos do you take?
We shoot as many as it takes to make great photos. You’ll have lots to choose from.

How many outfits can I bring?
We encourage you to bring at least two or three options. If you are undecided about what to wear we encourage you to bring lots of clothing to choose from and we’ll decide together which will work best with our backgrounds. We love lots of choices.

What kind of clothes should we wear?
With all portraits simple is generally best. Solid colors are the best choice. Strips and patterns can be very distracting. Long sleeves ALWAYS photograph better than short sleeves. Again, if you’re unsure please bring lots of options! With family portraits your clothing should compliment each other. For a full clothing consult please call the studio.

What should I bring to my session?
We want your portraits to be personal! Favorite toys and blankets are a great choice. Pets who are use to being indoors are welcome but please let us know when booking your appointment. Please bring a carrier or plan to have someone take care of your pet while we’re not photographing with them.

Do you do retouching?
The removal of minor blemishes is included in our pricing. We offer extensive retouch options for an additional fee. We offer body-sculpting (slimming), braces removal, head swapping as well as custom creations. We are well known for our amazing retouching abilities. You too will be impressed!

When do we see our portraits?
Ordering and viewing sessions are scheduled approximately a week after your portrait appointment. It’s important to have anyone who’s involved in the decision making process there with at this viewing session. Please come prepared ahead of time with a list of people whom you plan on giving portraits too. This way you can be certain not to forget anyone and to make ordering easier. Your viewing session is booked at the time of your portrait session. A second viewing session is available for an additional $75 and subject to availability.

Can we view our portraits on a Saturday?
We do not offer viewing sessions on Saturday because we’re usually booked with sessions or weddings. We offer them during the week at many different time options.

How long does it take to get my order?
We make every effort to get your order to you within three weeks of the time it was placed. We will notify you by phone when it arrives. We can accommodate rush orders for an additional fee.

Are your portraits Copyrighted?
Yes! All of our images are protected by federal copyright laws. Copied images result in a greatly reduced quality of work. This reflects poorly on our studio. Reproduction in any form is prohibited and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This includes, but is not limited to scanning, emailing, copying and printing via an at home printer. Please don’t scan. We blog so you don’t have to.

I want to put my portraits on my Facebook can I?
As a courtesy we do blog most of our sessions with a signed model release. It is okay to save these images and use them on your myspace or facebook with the conditions that you give us credit for the images and a link to our website. The images are watermarked with our logo. We are NOT okay with you altering the images or cropping out our logo watermark. Please inquire for more information or questions.

Do you offer a referral program?
We definately appreciate referrals! In fact we LOVE them and will give you free prints and discounts in appreciation! Call for more information!

Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, we do. We will always work with you to make it possible to purchase our portraits. Orders are not placed until the balance is paid in full. Please inquire for more information. We accept MC/Visa, Checks & Cash. Prices are subject to change without notice.

Do you offer Refunds?
Session fee’s are non refundable. If you’ve given a 72 hour notice or have special circumstances your session can be rescheduled.  A “no show” will forfeit your session fee.  Due to the custom nature of our work, refunds are not available. All sales are final. Because we strive to get your photos back to you in a timely matter there can be no changes once your order is placed.
